Hey everyone! I really should be getting to bed right now, but I'm not tired... So....I just thought I'd share a little random fact with you all! Did you know that you can actually call someone's phone from your computer?? Ha! I bet all you little people out there with wireless internet didn't know that, did you?? Or maybe you did....

Anyway, my point is this....when Kristen and I were setting up my new laptop, we were trying to get the internet connection thing up on here. Well, to be more precise, it was actually Kristen figuring it out and me sitting around being totally unhelpful, and waiting until I could use my computer. Doesn't sound like me at all, does it?!?

So, if you have dial-up internet, like we do....all you have to do it put in a phone number into your computer's network connection thing, and it'll really dial the number for you! Kristen tried my cell phone...it rang and I answered it! The funny thing is this....you can actually hear someone on the phone talking, from the speakers on your computer! Crazy, huh? I did not know this until a few days ago! We haven't actually figured out how to get the person on the phone to hear you if you say anything....so I bet the conversation would be pretty short if you called someone, though! I wonder if you can text someone from the computer.... :hmmm:

It's been a LONG time since I have updated, hasn't it?? I guess maybe that's because I haven't had too much to say! Or maybe because I don't get on this xanga very much...

Anyway, it's been too long, so I just had to get on here and say something! Not sure what yet, but here we go!

Not much new and exciting has been going on that I can think of! Work is going good, we're getting ready for the summer months, which will be busier! I have already asked for some time off that I want for things this summer, since it's going to be busier and I'm not going to get to request hardly any days off, I don't think. So....the thing that I'm a little disappointed about is that I know I'm not going to get to do a lot of things this summer that I want to do, and have been able to in the past. For example, graduation parties, Memorial Day parties....anything impromptu that comes up I know I won't be able to get off for, so I can just hope it works into my schedule!

Today....well, several things happened today actually!

1. I got my tax return in the mail! So that's good news....it's not a lot of money, so I'm not thrilled, but I guess it's something. I'm unsure whether I should be saying how much I got back online....do people do that or is that not okay to do??? I don't know...

2. Today (May 18th, 2003) is the day that we got Cassidy 6 years ago!! She was 6 weeks and 6 days old, an adorable little ball of black fur...I can't believe it was SIX years ago!! Craziness, time flies!

3. I just remembered that it's Josh and Caleb's 15th birthday today....so, for them....Happy Birthday, guys!! Hope it's a great one!!

4. Work was good today, and I went running when I came home. Then, Kristen, Gloria, Daniel, Josiah, Cassidy, Mirelle, Dukono and I all went on a walk! The sun was setting and it was just a beautiful, beautiful night...we had a good time and it was lots of fun! We went down the backroads, there are several different ways we can go when we go out walking, so it's not always the same way. It's fun It was pretty dark by the time we got home (not long ago) so we had to keep rushing into the ditch when cars came by, since they couldn't see us too well!

Anyway....thinking of what else I have to say, but not much is coming to me! I really should do this more often, you know? It's pretty easy for me to think of pointless things that I could say, it comes naturally!

Okay, I think I'm going to end here for now! And see if it will let me publish this entry to facebook....it's so temperamental!

Okay.....so maybe not quite literally....but that's I kept announcing yesterday when I hit the jackpot!! That's right, I did!

Yesterday evening I got home from drill team practice and I was feeding the cats and rabbits, and we have this old box truck that Dad bought last year, I think it was. Daniel told me that there were pennies in the back of it....so, of course I had to go and check it out! We found a ton of coins (mostly pennies) in the back of the truck! They were all over the place, it was crazy!! So I got pretty excited gathering them all up, and Daniel and Josiah helped me; we had a fun time with that! I even found a 1/2 dollar behind the flare box in the backseat! We ended up filling about 1 1/2 quart baskets with the coins! I thought that was a lot, and they had all just been laying around and I never knew it!

I have a coin collection, so of course I was excited to keep them all! However....as you can imagine,all these coins sitting around in the back of this dirty truck for who-knows-how-long, they were pretty disgusting!! After us treasure hunters had gathered up all of our valuable treasure and marched into the house singing (okay, yes, I admit I did do this! ), I set right to work getting them clean! First I rinsed them all off as well as I could, then I boiled vinegar and salt, and cooked them all on the stove! I think I heard somewhere that it was a good way to get coins clean...

However...I didn't know this, but did those coins stink when they were being "cooked"! It was nasty...and everyone else yelled at me for doing it around suppertime when all the food was cooking! But hey....I got a little excited! And we managed to do it without contaminating the food too....but we did have a close call when Kristen used my spoon that I had stirred the salt and vinegar with to mix up her salad!! Thank goodness it was before I put the filthy coins in it, so everything turned out okay!

After they all boiled a while, I found out something else I didn't know before! You're not supposed to soak copper coins with silver ones....meaning I should have separated the pennies from the nickels, dimes and quarters! Well, I didn't. So now, all the silver coins have a copper tint to them, and the pennies are all faded! Oh well, I wasn't too concerned about that, because they'll still be fine to put with all of my other coins, I think!

So I did separate the coins so I could soak them, and they've been soaking in vinegar and baking soda since last night. (Don't tell Mom, but I used up 1 1/2 bottles of vinegar for my money!! )  I'm going to leave them a while longer, I think, and then I get to count them and see how rich I am!!   I will be sure to let you all know how much they're worth when I get them counted! I just thought that was a fun story I could share!
